Oh, man. You know you need to get off your ass when an entire weekend can be qualified as productive solely because you (finally!) shaved your legs.

Although, it bears noticing that upon a second reading of A Game of Thrones, realization dawned that I really like Queen Cersei and kind of want to smack Eddard Stark around something fierce. Also Arya ( Read more... )

Oh, I definitely recommend it. It's a good read, if a bit daunting, as you say. It's one of those stories whose plots have plots of their own which, in turn, are made out of little plots. It all adds up and you get this complex series of events all moving by themselves but inevitably linked together in the end. Also there are certain aspects left to general interpretation and I approve of that very heartily.

Besides, as I wrote, when you can appreciate the villains and sometimes be annoyed/angry at the heroes, well you know there's some worthy characterization. I should warn you though, the moral scales go from light-grey to black. Which I also like in my characters.

So, yeah. It's certainly worth the read. Plus there's the series coming up on April on HBO, so maybe you could watch that and decide if you're still interested in going forth with the book.
