A Weekend Away [RP]

There is one key ingredient to the art of being Bruce Wayne - it isn’t the clothes or the cars or the ridiculously expensive yacht with a full staff of 19 (a ratio of 1.4 staff per guest, considering the high maintenance components of the guest list not quite as ridiculous as it sounds). Those are just props. The key ingredient to the art of being Bruce Wayne is an audience. It requires an audience. You have to be seen being Bruce Wayne or else there is no point in being Bruce Wayne at all.

What better audience than one trapped on a boat for two nights? This should be enough to fuel his image, his persona, for months to come.

The yacht is ready to leave and waiting for her guests. The staff on board ready to greet guests and help them make themselves at home. Cocktails (and Mocktails) on deck under a display of tiny white lights and a full five-course dinner to be served at 8. A nanny for the children (looks a little like Alicia Silverstone, Bruce thinks, with her crooked smile and sweet sort of sexiness, she’s fully accredited and looks amazing when dressed as a fairy) and a nanny for the adults as well (a fully accredited masseuse who is well versed in alternative treatments and also gives a mean pedicure and facial - she’s more Lucy Liu than Alicia, not that Bruce is complaining) are among the staff.

This is the virgin voyage for his latest acquisition which he intends to be used to entertain company guests, clients and the like who have business on the west coast. Perfect for team-bonding sessions, which seem all the fashion these days, throw in a Myers-Briggs evaluation and instantly a three-day cruise becomes a tax deduction.

“Just remember, Mr. Wayne.” Lucius had said to him. “What happens in the Jacuzzi never really stays in the Jacuzzi.”

But, of course, part of the art of being Bruce Wayne is ensuring that what happens in the Jacuzzi doesn’t stay in the Jacuzzi. Part of the art of being Bruce Wayne is making sure somehow it always ends up slashed across the gossip columns and on the tip of everyone’s tongues. The art lies in Bruce Wayne having been in hundreds of Jacuzzis that he has never been near.
