Fanfic: Divergences (Once Upon a Time), One-shot

Jan 08, 2010 01:38

I am suffering from a lack of Bleach this week. There have been no spoilers since Christmas.

Written for bemoan1000 at the Thanksgiving fic exchange at ginran. Prompt: Gin and Ran as children: A bucket of water and someone or something gets wet.

Title: Divergences (Once Upon a Time)
Rating: PG
Words: 803

Thanks to paperclipchains and fenikkusuken for beta reading.

When he first found her, she was skinny and timid and fearful. Gin asked most of the questions and did most of the talking. )

fandom: bleach, character: gin, character: rangiku, ship: ginran, my fanfic

That was sweet, that was really, really sweet. I think what I liked most was Gin realizing how the other kids liked Rangiku more than him, despite the fact that she also had spiritual energy. I think that's one of the things that bothered him most as a kid.

Also, the description of Rangiku as a pampered cat fits her perfectly.

I really liked this.

The most clever part, I think, was in that little show of Gin's casual cruelty with the ducklings, and how Matsumoto was naturally unnerved by this.

Great work!

Many thanks!

Everybody has a dark side and I wanted to hint at certain proclivities already present in Gin's character. Proclivities which I'm sure Aizen encouraged and nurtured.

Thank you! My personal interpretation of Gin is that--despite his sadistic, manipulative, inconsistent nature--he does like to be liked (he also has this weird latent protective side that puzzles me).

I wish I could take credit for linking Rangiku with cats and feline personality traits but Kubo was there before me. :)

(Edited for teh typos.)

Your icon made me spit coffee all over my keyboard, and firmly embedded the dreaded Seuss ear-worm in my brain for the day!

For that, you deserve to be bankai'd.

I've received many compliments on that icon but I believe you are the first to catch the twisted Seuss reference. I LUV U. <3

Thanks again for your great corrections and suggestions. I keep playing with the ending sentence (you're right--it wasn't tight). Changed it twice today, will probably change again tomorrow.

Thank you for sharing this! Matsumoto and Gin have always puzzled me, but I did enjoy this take. I found Gin's behaviour with the ducklings slightly disturbing, but the ending was particularly sweet. :)
