Unfortunately, people who are productive and enter early or on time usually get left behind at _contest. I'm not sure why that happens, but it does. *pout*

My attempts at humor are always half-cracked--or kind of dry and snarky.

Thanks for the tip! (I'll wait longer next time before posting an entry...) ;) I hope I didn't come across as too whiny, the first and second place winners were also my first and second place choices, so I'm cool. :)

"Dry and Snarky" go together like "cute and cuddly" or "armed and dangerous". It's the best kind of humor. :D

Naw, you didn't:) I've noticed over the last few months that anything that gets posted first or under the reminder notice tends to be ignored. The community is very much a last-thing-read community.

My best humor happens on accident. I'll get reviews telling me that such and such chapter or story was hilarous. I'll frown, read a again, and go.. Hey! This is funny. How'd that happen? XDD

... you mean not everyone reads all entries before voting? *blinks in surprise*

What asshole beat you? What asshole judged them? Urg..

Gotta love those memes. My journal is meme central at the mo.

Oh, no! Nobody's been an asshole, except possibly myself for coming across as a whiny fanbrat. ;)
I voted for the winners, too! :)

Hmmm, yeah, I read your fic above and it's not as good as your previous ones, if you want my opinion. The others kick ass.

I'm always up for honest opinions, and I can handle less-than-glowing reviews. Thank you for the compliment, and the honest critique. :)

Yay, you posted the meme! ^_^

If taxis where you live are anything like taxis in my locality, the risks of an accident are higher!

Haven't tried Elderflower syrup before. *notes it*

As for iyfic_contest, don't give up! Try and try again! I want to read more of your stuff! Are you entering for this week's theme?

Oh, I'm not giving up. Like I said, I really am 800 words into an idea for the "Missed Opportunity" theme. The fic strayed dangerously into melodramatic waters last night, however, so I'll need to tweak and prune mercilessly if I end up submitting it. :) Are you entering this week? I missed seeing your work this last round!

I live in New York. There are many, many bad drivers. :D Taxi drivers tend to be "bad"-- not in the sense of not knowing how to drive, but in the sense of "speeding up, cutting off, and engaging in maverick, occasionally dangerous driving."

Yes, I love my elderflower spritzers! There's a German/Austrian cafe nearby that serves them, and they're so refreshing (a little herbal and medicinal tasting at first, but you get used to that). You can also get Elderberry syrup, which is dark pruplish color, and sweeter.

Gak. I love this spell check option, and I always forget to use it!

ElderBERRY syrup is a dark purplish color. ElderFLOWER syrup is clear. ^_^

I'm not sure if I'll be entering this round. Been more focused on Tsuki (somewhat) and right now a little distracted with completing the gallery of character portraits for my other monster fic. We'll see.

I think I've seen elderflower jam at the local IKEA food nook.

Re Taxi drivers (do Americans say 'taxi' and Brits say 'cab', or is it the other way around?) -- sounds like ours!
