Did you find that the chocolate in the cupcakes made them a bit heavy? Did they go better with coffee? (maybe so...since you were drinking coffee while making it ;))

They look absolutely delicious, for sure.

For me, tea cakes have sort of a gentle flavor though, so as not to overpower the tea that you're (theoretically) drinking with it. I'm a fan of lemon lavender tea cakes, myself. Or some kind of spice cake.

I was VERY surprised the recipe called for just dumping the tea leaves in the icing. I hadn't actually thought of that!

I wish you can send food via email...I'd love to try these. And I love the way the ziplock piping bag made the icing look!

The chocolate did make the cupcake pretty dense. But the bold flavor of the Earl Grey was definitely NOT overshined by the chocolate. They actually complimented each other quite well.

I've never had tea cakes so I'm not really sure what they are supposed to taste like. As you can probably tell...I'm more of a coffeecake kinda girl. LOL!! But the lavender tea cakes sound intriguing and I love spice cake! There's actually a chai tea cake recipe I'd love to try.

Dumping the leaves in the icing definitely made sure there was no mistaking the flavor. O actually dipped his finger in the meringue before I piped the cupcakes and he started jumping and dancing and said it tasted like an Earl Grey marshmallow. He was very excited!

I suggest you try them if you really like tea. O had 3 of them in one sitting. And I don't own mini-muffin pans so I ended up making big ones. I would love to send you some through email. For shame. :-( Thanks for reading it though!!
