Lily and Stuffs

Apr 21, 2010 12:09

I feel like I haven't posted here in a while. I've been a bit distracted with the husband home. I've been baking and making Lily's birthday cakes and such. O got in Tuesday the 13th at about 10am. We decided to take Lily to Chuck e Cheese that night. She had a blast!! I decided to make her a big cookie cake so she would have something to celebrate ( Read more... )

when I listen to you talk about cooking I always see the scene from Stranger than Fiction. I think you need to stop analyzing it and just cook.

oh.....and this is a friend of mine in Austin, but I thought you might find a lot of things she does and blogs about interesting.

LOL! Thanks Serret! Leave it to you to put it all in perspective. ;-) I totally wanna be that girl in that movie! Otty and I have even been playing with names for my future bake shop. Tee hee.

Your friend seems fun. I especially love that she mentioned the maple bacon donut on her blog. I wanna try one of those so bad!!

lmao I've been meaning to call you lately anyway, remind me to tell you my story about the bake shop name.....wait.....did I tell you this when you guys were here last?

She makes a lot of awesome things from scratch and is SUPER ambitious. The other day she was talking about making really great beef stock and stuff.

Bake shop name?? This is not ringing any bells at the moment...however, my memory sucks so you may start telling me the story and I may say "oh yeah I remember this but I don't so keep telling me!" LOL!!

I sent your friend a note to see if I could "friend" her. I'm excited about a post about using fabric and a cornstarch paste as an easy, removable wallpaper! This may be the solution to my eternal renter problem.

Are you and D planning on coming to see us in MO this year?? I'm so excited to go!!

Oh, and I would love to hear from you! We should def set up a chat date. :-D

The cake look amazing! Like Elsa said, I wonder what her sweet 16 cake is going to look like! lol. The flowers are adorable.

I think when you have your own space and get into the kitchen for a few weeks you'll find out if you're destined to be a foodie. Only time will tell.

So, maybe I'm retarded and completely missed this... but what city are you guys settling down in?

I look a look at the Pioneer's website and saw this in her blog, "don’t like going places without at least one of my sucklings" lol, that's what I'm going to call my kids too!

Thank you, thank you dahling! I have plenty of time to come up with something amazing for her sweet 16! 7 feet tall is the standard I guess.

I guess I'm worried that I will fall into the rut of not wanting to cook because it will only be the three of us. But I don't know that that will happen since there is pretty much nowhere to go out to eat in MO. Like you said...only time will tell.

We are going to Ft. Leonard-Wood Missouri. We are going to be living in the town the Fort is surrounded by called St. Robert. It should be interesting. O says the house we are renting has a huge floorplan so I can't wait to get in there and decorate. You and the boy creature should try to make a trip out to see us this year. You would eat well! LOL!!

I love the Pioneer Woman! I'm totally obsessed with her site right now. I've been reading her "love story" and just found out it's being made into a book and possibly a movie soon. I would love that!

the cookie cake: rofl. it's actually kinda awesome.
lily's cake: really awesome!

i think you've latched on to cooking and baking as a way to make your life more steady and normal. it started when you moved to AL and the obsession has just built from there. you may not have had a home, or a room, or your husband with you, but you could make some cookies or a cake that would make someone smile. i think it will level off once you're settled in MO and have a good family routine going.

Haha! That sucks. I'll be honest and tell you that mine started with a bunch of foul language and frustration but I finally figured it out. I used the Wilton method for doing the flowers. It was with royal icing as well. It's one fluid motion with pressure and a wrist twist, stop pressure and pull straight up. Keep the tip on the surface the whole time. Just keep practicing and they should turn out.
