Literature: Fellowship of the Ring

I finished reading The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien the other day.

This book... I mean... Wow!  I never really thought it would be as good as people said.  Far better than The Hobbit, but it was also geared more towards adults.  I understand now how much the films left out or changed and I can see how the fans of the books were annoyed ( Read more... )

JRR Tolkien is amazing. Just amazing. I whole heartedly recommend the whole series. It can get kinda heavy, so a break isn't a bad idea, but it's still brilliant. I'm a Silarmillion fan myself. It's also quite heavy, but it has such lovely little pieces of information it it. It clarifies a lot in the trilogy. Or, at the very least, gives context.
