Dragon fruit is awesome. It tastes very kiwi-ish. Too expensive to buy all the time though.

I prefer my hearts and gizzards in a gravy served over Amish style noodles.

But what does elk taste like?

Turtle soup is devine...found gator greasy and unpleasant.

Whe strangest food is rabbit to me. Not that eating rabbit is so odd, but prepared any other way than a soup or stew it tastes fairly close to chicken, but stewed.....it only tastes like rabbit, and nothing else is comparable.

Our gator didn't seem that greasy... but it was very sausage like, so I probably disregarded that aspect.

Elk is a bit chewy and a little gamey, but not overy unpleasant. It was a huge elk burger (a little to big for me) and the people I was with were generally unpleasant in general... It was during the Hell Trip in Colorado.

I think I'm still off about turtle but I'm not sure why. I know I was disturbed by it when I was a child because I was very much into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... and I kept picturing cute little turtles...

I've had roasted rabbit and remember it was pretty good. Had trouble with it a few years ago though... because the carcass looked a lot like our youngest cat (minus head, tail, and paws)... it just simply killed my appetite as she was rubbing around my likes to get a taste of her look-alike.

I had gator sausage...very good.

As to your rabbit story:

There's a reason for the historical name for cooking up a cat(during the depression, and the shortages of WWII).."roof rabbit"

Durian! You are a brave one, lady. I know a lot of people who won't even come near the stuff.

I personally enjoy eating it frozen because it gets very ice-cream like.

The first time I heard of durian (on a show called Taboo), I wanted to try it. Imagine my surprise when the asian market near me started carrying them. The first one I tried tasted like pineapple mixed with cream cheese. :-)

Frozen durian sounds delish.
