The trouble with sandals

The trouble with sandals is that after a winter of being swaddled in thick, soft socks, my feet are tender and weak. I wore sandals for maybe three hours yesterday, and I now have huge, burning blisters all over my feet. My sympathies--that happened to me really badly when I was in England. Too much walking on uneven surfaces like cobblestone streets? I don't know.

I didn't come up with a good solution. But I don't think you're obligated to go back out in sandals while your blisters are still new. Ouch.

Aw. Hopefully the feet will get more solid as summer progresses, and you will be able to run around barefoot by August?

I talked to a woman once who must have worked at Colonial Willamsburg or some other kind of place like that where they walked barefoot all summer for historical accuracy- Her goal was to squaredance on the gravel driveway. Apparently, by the end of the summer, the only obstacle to that was that the stones were hot!

I have more modest goals.
