I caught the last -- 75 minutes of a 2 hour "The Biggest Loser" premiere last night. In one scene, they bring the participants into a room with the show physician and he shows them an audiovisual about what the excess fat is doing to their lungs, heart, vitality. He gives them an estimate of how old their bodies are biologically, compared to

But actually I've seen shows like this over here & sometimes it does give you that much needed kick in the pants to do something.
I think it's a bit degrading & sad however, that people need to go on tv & have other people basically 'point & laugh' at their bodies to make them take care of themselves.
I wanna see Louise Hay do a show on how to lose weight! *grins* She must be horrified at programes like this, bless her :)
And obviously it's got you appreciating what a fabulous body you already have...so that's a plus!!! *grins*

But I do think they go on tv in order to have the professional help and 24 hour bootcamp type focus. The real hard part has to be when they get home, and don't have that trainer yelling at them every morning, LOL

Well yeah..I do realise that! But I'm just saying it is a shame people feel the need to put themselves out there for public ridicule because they don't know how to love & take care of their own bodies..ya know? That's all Im saying
I hope they all get plenty of care & advice when the tv cameras are 'not' rolling...like you say!

i disagree with not focusing on the negative aspects of things. i was listening to an EFT practitioner talking comparing not focusing on the negative aspects like refusing to see a dirty house and only choosing to see the clean parts. eventually you run out of clean until you face the dirty and deal with it.
everyone who goes on that show is there because they want to be to get the training, education and EMPOWERMENT to reclaim their health.
I see this show as empowering and inspirational. its empwering to me to see people like me work their butts off to change their lives and improve their health and in turn their experience in life.
The only thing I would change about that show is I would bring in some energy medicine and energy psychology practioners to help them deal with the energetic and emotional aspects of what got them there in the first place.

everyone who goes on that show wants to be on that show to reclaim and empower their health and lives. i watched part of the show last night and that part where they showed what the fat was doing to their bodies was total wake up call for me.

I got really angry when I watched Brookhaven? Clinic and the doctor was mad at one of the morbidly obese men that would sneak food in. He said something along the lines of "all I do is try to help, I don't understand why he would do this." DUHHHH You're the doctor... if YOU don't understand why, obviously you aren't helping the patient understand why, thus not giving them the support they need to fully get through this!!! *smacks head*
