Ok, so I have to write a research paper on a controversial subject. I have to state a claim either for, against, or in between on it, and then back up whichever claim using peer reviewed sources. Thing is I am at a block as to what to write about. If anyone has ideas (serious ones only, please) Please respond here :)

the fair tax act? it is about to come up for a vote, basically it would remove all tax from everything except sales tax and would bump sales tax up to like 20% so folks would only be taxed if they bought stuff, food would be exempt. here's a link for it:

..here's a link against it:

Prostitution is a good one. I did a debate on that last year, it was fun. Or something current: right to die, gay marriage, etc etc.

I wrote a paper on reasons to legalize marijuana. Reasons for - paper, fuel sources, doesn't deplete the soil like cotton plants, clothing and hygiene products, medicinal uses. Reasons against - illegal drug use, gateway drug, harm on your body.

If you choose this subject, it's a very easy topic to research. I still have alot of the info I used, and you can make a very persuasive argument to use hemp instead of cotton, oil, charcoal, trees, etc.

Let me know, I'd be glad to help!!

Funny you should mention this, dude. I wrote my civic discourse paper on something similar. Although rather than argue what they do to the mind, I chose to argue why kids are getting ahold of titles like GTA when they are not supposed to.
