john and i leave for our !first! vacation together on sunday. it'll be a much needed vacation from work (john) and studying (me). We'll be in Alaska for a week and then from August 3-5 we (probably) get to go to Defcon in vegas. It's so nerdy and awesome...i'm totally pumped ( Read more... )

in the 2007 national american miss pageant, Alyssa is Miss California in the princess age group (4-6). She's going on to nationals! I taught Alyssa a ballet dance for the talent portion of the pageant and she was the 1st runner up in talent. the girl she lost to had a really good kung fu performance AND she was 6 (a year older) so i can't really ( Read more... )

john came down for the weekend and put up with two whole days of dancing. i'll admit that i got a little stressed out and grumpy, but all in all it went smoothly. my kids gave me lots of cards and flowers and gifts. it was very thoughtful. oh yeah, and i ran into someone i knew in high school. turns out that she's engaged to my student's brother. but i'm freaking out about the other classes because i might have B's in both of them. we'll see.
