I haven't been active in fandom for quite awhile. One of the big reasons is that for the past couple years I've been helping to take care of my parents who aren't doing all that well health wise. I'm mentioning this now because it's 9pm and they are both in bed and I'm feeling very lonely and a little depressed. It got me thinking what a God ( Read more... )

it's just the night usually that can get so lonely.

I heard that. Mmmmhmmm. Yeah. This happens to me when Jeff works late, which he does a great deal. I know that during the worst of my pain and depression, fandom kept me sane, too.

What kind of plays do you enjoy doing? I haven't done one - acted or done costume design/construction in ages, and I'm starting to feel the bug to do...something...perform-y.

I tend to like more modern, slice of life kind of plays. My theater group is only a year old and we've only done 2 plays. One "adult" play called Getting Sara Married and a kid's play titled Holka Polka. Over the Christmas season we sang carols for several events. We're planning a spring choral performance and 2 plays for the summer, The Green Room and The Jungle Book Jr. Because were such a young group our bank account is pretty empty. ;p A big part of our play selection process has to with how much $ we have to spend. Though we've been finding some really great "indy" plays that way, Holka Polka and The Green Room being prime examples.

Cool! Try doing a Halloween Haunted House, it's a great fundraiser. But make sure the fire marshall is in on your plans. We started a tradition and then somebody had a "fantastic" idea that got shut down and then everyone deflated and we haven't done a thing since.
