Glad all is safe in your haven!

I'm just impressed that you would even consider cooking for breakfast. I can't contemplate anything more than the coffee maker until 10 am.

Normally, I don't eat breakfast because I need 2-3 hours after I wake up to get hungry, but the reason I'm waking up so early these days is that I'm going to bed @ 7pm without dinner. I pretty much wake up starving. Yesterday, I made quiche for breakfast (surprisingly easy, though I need more herbs for flavor).

Why are you going to bed without dinner? And why so early?

Please don't do things you are not used to and burn down your apartment.

But I hope the potatoes were tasty.

If breakfast is more than cereal and/or coffee, I wait 2 hours. ;)

Because I was bad and mommy said so?

No, no...my sleep schedule is off, mostly from tension at work. This happens to me pretty frequently. At some point, I would have stayed up way too late in an effort to keep tomorrow from coming, then slept only 2-3 hours. That evening, I would have gone home, eaten something snacky, and dropped into bed. Then it just became routine. It'll probably break over the weekend, which is too bad, because waking up at 5am would be a good schedule for me if I joined the Y again this summer.

Agh, how awful. I'm glad it turned out a near miss instead of a disaster!

(Though sometimes I think near misses make me feel more dumb than actual disasters. Maybe because there's less fixing--which keeps my mind occupied--and more recrimination.)
