But, on the other hand, Katara trusted Zuko least, and thus she needed to be the last one to forgive/accept. Putting Boiling Rock after Southern Raiders would have made it less about Sokka-Zuko bonding and more about Sokka saving his Dad.
(Alternatively, we can interpret Katara's attitude at the beginning of Southern Raiders as at least partly jealousy ("Why didn't *I* get to go on a field trip with Zuko?").)
Maybe Ty Lee's joining the Kyoshi warriors is a sign that she's given up her need for attention all the time and accepted that it's okay to look like other girls around her because she has her own personality to make her stand out? (EVERYBODY has a crush on Zuko, duh!)
(I am STILL SAD that Avatar is over. Currently, I am forcing myself to not rewatch favorite parts of season 3 so they'll seem more new when I get the DVDs.)
but Ozai turns out to be so crazy later that it seems like Iroh must have just gone on his own
As I was watching the show, I had placed Iroh as being ordered by Ozai to go along with Zuko to get rid of him/get him out of the way. And that Ozai gave them the piddly ship and crew so that Zuko could try his folly hand at catching the Avatar to return home and restore his honor. (The reason he got such a small ship and crew, and only one powerful confidante was because he didn't really expect Zuko to ever succeed and thus effectively banished both thorns in his side, Zuko and Iroh, without, say, creating a poor image for himself e.g. banishing his 13 year old son to fend for himself
( ... )
That said, I also think regardless of an assumed order by Ozai, Iroh would have gone with Zuko anyway.
Oh, totally. My point(?) was, though, at the beginning of the series, I wasn't sure just how bad Ozai was, and I wondered if he sent Iroh along to help Zuko because he really cared about his son, etc, but by the end, it's obvious that he doesn't give a rat's ass about Zuko (he was going to kill his own son, seriously?), so that's obviously not the case. Now that you suggest it, I can see Ozai ordering Iroh away because he wants to get rid of him...though I think I prefer to imagine that it was Iroh's idea. *finally breaks out spoiler icon*
I am totally impressed by your ability to remember what question we're on. What are you going to do when you also have to remember new set of numbers to go with the questions you ask new viewers?
