I went to see the Hobbit yesterday. Got up at 8 to see it at 10 and I wasd pleased to see that I wasn't the only one. What I could see from the others reactions, they shared my opinion: A really good movie.
There was history, culture and drama in just in the first minutes and the work compared the appreciation the film will receive for this part, will never compare!
I thought that was stunning, absolutely amazing start to the film.
I go with the believe that they will go after The Silmarillion one day. Rumors are that they bought the rights years ago, but put the planning of.
I will dream of a TV Series or something similar until I'm proven otherwise. Greedy Moneymakers from Hollywood would be our greatest ally for once. But if they manage "Game of Thrones" why not "Silmarillion"?
I agree with everything you said. I need to read the book again, but I really liked what PJ did with the Hobbit. To be honest, I was a bit relieved to hear he would do it instead of del Toro (who I was surprised to see in the credits
( ... )
Well, you are right. The Silmarillion will be anything but soon. But I'm willing to believe that they will try it at least, because the moneymakers are slowly learning that TV Shows and Movies based on books are often better than the originally created ones. In my opionion book-based movies have more depth. Since The Silmarillion has so many storys and characters one can just hope.
The thought alone that the Kinslaying of Alqualonde being the usual 'battle near at the end of the movie' gives me the shivers. With all the feels and the possible emotions.
But the Hobbit first. They made it exeptional and Elronds delevopment is proof in my eyes that Pj isn't going to give it up soon.
I hope there will be fan movies again. The Hunt for Gollum and Bon of Hope was simply awesome!
