How do you forgive?

My Mother called me up the other day, and apologized for the many times in our lives that she'd become a reckless driver when we fought and she grew angry. She said she was wrong, and that she was sorry. If I lived there, and could have spoken to her in person, I would have hugged her. But as it was, it seemed all I could do was sit in silence. Eh.. no-one's ever done something that deserved a verbal apology that lasted longer than a few words.. "I'm sorry I ______.", y'know? I usually just say "S'alright, no worries." or something similar..

Well, that's not true either. But the people who should spend some time composing something of merit aren't ever gonna do it.

Regardless, I don't have any trouble forgiving little things, but if it were something major, I'd likely be very uncomfortable with it.
