[2-PRELIMINARY] [SENIOR] [VOTING] TRAINING GROUNDS;

Aug 31, 2007 22:53

Sup everyone.

Sign-ups for Challenge 02 and submissions for the Preliminary Round: Training Grounds are now officially closed.

This is the voting post for the SENIOR LEAGUE. For the Junior League post, please go HERE. Yes, I realize it's not in the main community, but I don't want to spam everyone's flists with two posts every time. XD; Worry not, they'll both always be up at the same time, and I'll always link to the JL post from the SL post.

We had a total of 53 sign-ups for the Senior League, out of which 1 participant (Kiyokazu Fujimoto) had to withdraw, which makes for a total of 52 participants officially in the running for Senior League.

Voting isn't obligatory, but HIGHLY recommended!

VOTING RULES

- Do not vote for yourself, neither as a favorite nor as an elimination, and do not create duplicate accounts to vote for yourself, or ask people to vote for you.

- Only one vote per person.

- You must give a reason for your eliminations. The mods reserve the right to nullify any petty votes (i.e. "I don't like the character" or "I don't like the colors"). Giving a reason for your favorite votes is not necessary.

- You may leave general comments to icons without voting for them. These comments will not count for tallying, but they'll be handed out to the iconmakers with their critiques.

- You may split your votes - vote for eliminations now, favorites later - but your vote will not be counted until it has been completed.

- Vote fairly, and based on the aesthetic quality rather than your personal preferences. Liking the character/series/artwork is not a valid reason to give a vote - you're voting for an icon, not for the image chosen.

- Make sure you've picked the right numbers for your votes! The number of the icon is above it on the voting table. We'll try to check every vote to make sure it matches the icon, but please be careful!

- You do not need to be a participating member to vote. Anyone can vote, so please vote and encourage others to do the same!

VOTING FORMAT

- Votes must be submitted to this post.

- There are no eliminations this round.

- You may pick a minimum of three and a maximum of six favorites from each table [for a total of 6-12 favorites]. Comments are optional, but votes with critiques will be worth more than votes without.

- You don't have to vote on both tables if you don't want to, although it is highly appreciated.

- Voting order DOES matter! Make sure you list your overall favorites in order of priority.

Submit your votes as such:

Table #1 - HUSH
[#099] (priority: 1) - I love the colors, the cropping, and the composition; this icon feels very balanced.
[#100] (priority: 2) - [optional crit]
[#101] (priority: 3) - [optional crit]
[OPTIONAL] [#102] (priority: 4) - [optional crit]
[OPTIONAL] [#103] (priority: 5) - [optional crit]
[OPTIONAL] [#104] (priority: 6) - [optional crit]

General Comments (optional; for icons you didn't favorite)
[#105] - [optional general comment here]
[#106] - [optional general comment here]

/////////

Table #2 - MONOCHROME
[#099] (priority: 1) - [optional crit]
[#100] (priority: 2) - [optional crit]
[#101] (priority: 3) - [optional crit]
[OPTIONAL] [#102] (priority: 4) - [optional crit]
[OPTIONAL] [#103] (priority: 5) - [optional crit]
[OPTIONAL] [#104] (priority: 6) - [optional crit]

General Comments (optional; for icons you didn't favorite)
[#105] - [optional general comment here]
[#106] - [optional general comment here]

Alternatively you can use this template (replace 'xx' with the icon numbers):

Table #1 - HUSH
[#xx] (priority: 1) optional crit
[#xx] (priority: 2) optional crit
[#xx] (priority: 3) optional crit
[OPTIONAL] [#xx] (priority: 4) optional crit
[OPTIONAL] [#xx] (priority: 5) optional crit
[OPTIONAL] [#xx] (priority: 6) optional crit

General Comments (optional; for icons you didn't favorite)
[#xx] optional general comment
[#xx] optional general comment

/////////

Table #2 - MONOCHROME
[#xx] (priority: 1) optional crit
[#xx] (priority: 2) optional crit
[#xx] (priority: 3) optional crit
[OPTIONAL] [#xx] (priority: 4) optional crit
[OPTIONAL] [#xx] (priority: 5) optional crit
[OPTIONAL] [#xx] (priority: 6) optional crit

General Comments (optional; for icons you didn't favorite)
[#xx] optional general comment
[#xx] optional general comment

And without further ado, on to the icons! Please remember to pick a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 favorites from each table.

Voting: Training Grounds

For this round, participants were asked to make two icons: the first should contain no text or tinytext; the second should only use white, black, and another color (gray counted as a color). For both icons, they were restricted to not using any textures, brushes, patterns - they were only allowed to use their program's default selection tools/custom shapes, filters, the eraser, and layer modes. Participants were asked to refrain from attempting to mimic texture work with those tools, but I did not bar icons that did, since the line would be hard to define. Nevertheless, keep that in mind when voting!

DO NOT VOTE FOR AN ICON BECAUSE IT LOOKS MORE ELABORATE THAN ANOTHER. Vote for the icons that made the best out of the tools they used, because that was the point of this challenge - it's NOT a contest for who manages to make the most complex icon with fewer resources.

All participants have guaranteed that they did not use any textures. Some have used other parts of the same image which may look like textures but are not. So no accusing anyone of using textures, either!
