Who: Clay Kaczmarek, Kaylee Frye What: Clay gets hurt. It's up to Kaylee to protect him. Where: Business District When: Night, 9/3 Rating: BLOOD VIOLEEEENCE PG-13, I guess? I suck at ratings Notes: I got nothing witty.
[ Every time that Clay has left for a supplies/food run she's been worried. Seriously worried even though he's a trained assassin. In a way she can't help it. It feels like waiting for Mal and the crew to return from a job that could take a nosedive at the smallest error. So she straightens up the few things they have in the office where they've been sleeping. Paces up and down the rows of silent arcade games. Pokes at a bit of discarded scrap she found from one of the games that had been repaired. She abandons it to pace yet again. She checks the door. And she waits.
Hearing gun shots has become too commonplace for days now. Yet again she hears them and wonders who met with the wrong end of a gun this time. A resident? One of them, the bracelet wearing ones? She's partway down the row closest to the door Clay usually returns in when the door opens. Only this time something's wrong. There's a thud right after it opens. And then that voice.
Fucking get out! She's about to run when she sees them. Three of them. They don't notice her

[The pounding of boots close in on him and Clay grunts as one of the soldiers kick him in the gut. Clay tries to make his belly as small a target as possible, and gets a boot stomped on his hand in the process. No. It can't be like this. He's got to keep her safe. Another boot lands right on his shoulder and the sound that violently rips its way from his throat doesn't sound human. He doesn't realize it's him, to be honest. His vision goes black for a moment as his shoulder feels white-hot.
In the blackness, time feels like it's moving too quickly. Faint, at the back of his head, a scuffle registers. But he feels like he's drowning. And for a moment, he wonders if he never left the Tiber. That's where Abstergo tossed his body after he'd bled out. No. That's wrong. He's not in the river. He's not in the Animus.
Mandalus.
He's in Man-- Two shots crack in the air.
Kaylee! The world snaps back and his eyes open just in time to see a soldier kneeling over him.
A gloved hand circles around his throat and squeezes.] Kay, get...other

[ She only vaguely registered the noise over the sound of her beating heart. The gun shots brought everything back into sharp focus and that's when she hears her name and a couple other words being choked out. In a panic she aims not for the unoccupied soldier but the one on Clay. But all she gets are clicks from the gun. No bullets. And no time to find some and fumble through reloading

[Clay inhales raggedly when the hand on his throat is pushed down for a brief moment before being pulled away. He follows the soldier with his eyes as he tries to push himself back up but his shoulders goes 'nope'.] Kay, I said the other guy! [He rasps out. The other guy, who is now headed in Clay's direction, pulls out an electrified baton and swings it around once before cracking Clay across the face with it.
Fireworks burst before Clay's eyes and he grunts loudly at the pain. With his good leg, he swings it towards the soldier as he glances towards Kaylee. What is up with that guy and choking? Fuck.] Go for the throat, Kay!
