[ Still a little shaken up from when she had found herself in that room, Belle was trying to distract herself from these unwelcome feelings. She was clutching the strange device to herself as she walked along the street, eyes wide with unhidden wonder. This was certainly not Storybrooke, nor was it Fairy Tale Land. It was something new. Some place ( Read more... )

[Action]

You ain't the only o-one who has problems workin' that t-t-thing. [A man made entirely of copper and silver clanks nearby, smiling wide to the pretty woman before giving her a tip of his Victorian-style hat as steam rises from the vents in his cheeks.] Don't worry, t-though. You'll get the hang of it eventually.

Need a-a-a haaand?

[ Her eyes went wide for just a moment when she turned her attention to this stranger. And strange was one of describing him. But to Belle, strange was never a bad thing. In fact, when the feeling of surprise faded, it made way for fascination. She was unable to help how long her stare lingered.

And when she realized that was staring? The young woman blinked and smiled, albeit sheepishly. ]

Oh! Ah, yes, please. I think... well, I'm certain I'm lost.

[The metal man's wide smile softened minutely, enough to not scare the woman away at least, before Rabbit notices that it is fascination in her eyes, not fear. His hunched shoulders jerk awkwardly into a straighter posture, his confidence only going up.]

H-happy to help in any way possible! My name's Rabbit! [He stuck out a set of spidery fingers, still smiling.]

[ She was trying really hard not to stare but there was no stopping that smile from growing as she listened to him speak, observing his motions. He was a funny man. A funny, interesting, and curious man. ]

Thank you, Rabbit. It's very nice to meet you! [ Tentatively she reached out her own hand, accepting his offered one. A metal man with metal hands. It was odd shaking a hand that was not of flesh or bone. Odd, but interesting all the same. ] My name is Belle.

action;

[ Helen comes to a stop mid-stride, looking over at the new comer. She's still shaken up by the death of someone she very much admired, but, the city didn't seem to stop just because someone died. Rather like Helen herself. With smile, she walked over to join the woman, hands wearing modern looking clothing. At least that, perhaps, may look familiar to Belle. ]

Not used to cellphones, are we?

[ Belle had tried pressing another button, this time cutting off the recording, when she heard someone speaking to her. Looking up instantly she felt herself smiling as embarrassment settled in. A quiet laugh escaped her, one directed at herself. ]

Is it that obvious?

Just a bit. [ There is a smile on her face as Helen pulls her own device out, the silver Bangle on her wrist glimmering in the sun that filtered through the darkness above them. ] There's hardly anything to be embarrassed about. We have all been here at some point in our lives.

[ She remembers when they were invented. ] If you'd like, I can show you how to use the basics of it.

[ There was a relieved look to be seen at her words. Compared to nearly everyone in Storybrooke she was a little behind on the ways of modern living. And in all honesty, it left her feeling embarrassed from time to time when she had to ask Rumpelstiltskin to explain objects that she didn't understand. ]

I would be forever grateful if you could!

heartbreak--I MEAN ACTION;

[ Rumpelstiltskin--or, better known in this world as 'Mr. Gold'--has kept rather to himself for the first week of his stay in the city. He's had time to investigate the lodgings they gave him, and has come to the conclusion that there's hardly any magic present in this world. Mandalus does have magic - he can sense it - but it's tucked away. Hidden. And that's what he needs to find a way back home. He may not be able to create portals to jump (or can he?), but he can certainly find a way home. After being alive for three centuries, it shouldn't be too hard for the Dark One to conjure a way back to Storybrooke. Especially when being in Mandalus is hardly a curse.

He crosses the street, merely glancing in one direction, as he heads back to the Station. It's where he arrived in the city, so it is the best place to start in other to trace magic. He can recall being dragged up a set of stairs (the limp did hinder them a bit), and being left there with his cane. If he could find his way back to that room, just ( ... )

[ Admittedly, while Belle was still wandering around when she should have gone off to find the apartment she had apparently been given upon arrival, the young woman had been bitten by that little bug known only as curiosity. She was beginning to get the hang of the device and was currently using the map function to guide her way around. The heels of her shoes clicked against the sidewalk while she walked ( ... )

[ His movements stilled as he heard his name. First, there was alarm. No one here knew that name! It wasn't even listed on the cellphone he was so carelessly given. His grip on the cane tightened as he stood stiffly. Who could know that name? Who? His dagger wasn't even in Mandalus! There was no possible way that anyone, anyone, could know his true name...

Then, almost as an after shock, he recognized the voice. He knew that voice. It was seared into his memory, just as Baelfire's was. Anger subsided into shock and panic. They brought her, Belle, here? Trapping the Dark One was not enough? They had to try and sway him to help them by bringing the one person they could find? Oh, they were good, weren't they? They thought they were so clever. Bring the love of the Dark One to try and subdue the monster. How quaint ( ... )

[ Despite her not possessing any magic of her own, it was any wonder that Belle was able to hurry over to him in those heels without tripping.

Having no pockets to put the device in for the time being she had to settle with holding onto it still when she reached him and, without another word, embraced him. Even in her shoes she was still just a few inches shy of matching his height so her chin came to rest against his shoulder when she hugged him. ]

You're here! I thought I was the only one!

[ Belle stopped fiddling with the buttons when she heard someone, their voice interrupting her concentration. She blinked once in surprise before smiling. ]

I'm afraid I haven't. [ She held it up with an embarrassed grin. ] I've never really owned one before.

[ It was a strange little device but regardless she nodded along with what he said. She still had a lot to learn. ] It's... like a... phone, isn't it? Just smaller?

[He's carrying a multitude of books when he emerges from the shop, trying to stack them all. This was such a bad idea, but he needed the reading material, and there were other things to pick up, and well. It's why he's walking her way, heading poking out from the very top of the pile.]

Ah! Excuse me, miss!

[ ell it was a good thing she didn't have anything on her but the device. When she looked up just in time to avoid bumping into him, her eyes widened for a second. ]

Oh goodness-- do you need help, sir?

No, I think I've- [Stumbling as he walks past her, turning on heel to face her, even with the stack of books in the way.]

Terribly sorry about that! Are you alright?

[ As he had turned to face her, on impulse she held up her hands should any of those have fallen in order to catch them. She had to stifle a chuckle as she couldn't help being reminded of her own habit of over indulging when ti came to books. ]

Yes, I'm fine. Are you sure you don't any help there?
