[ The feed is turned on by a new face that greets Mandalus. He's an older man, with longer hair, and a few gold teeth. Something else seems to be in his eyes - mischief. Or perhaps something else entirely. It's rather hard to tell, isn't it? ]

I must admit, this is not how I am used to my... services being called for. Perhaps it isn't the same in ( Read more... )

[Okay, so this guy looks different and Dean is inclined to think there's something off with everyone now. Still, it's work responding.] The fine print says there ain't a chance of going home unless they send us back and if we don't stop this war it's gonna end all worlds, so it's kinda important we do.

[ Well, Dean isn't entirely wrong on that idea. ]

I'd like to see proof of a claim such as that. It sounds more like a frightening bed time story rather than an actual guarantee of events that will happen.[ There's a chuckle in his voice. ] I don't suppose they have given evidence to the idea?

Head out into the streets, you can see the leftover damage from the last battle. It was the end of August, beginning of September, and we're still getting over it. If a giant freakin' monster snake isn't enough proof, I don't know what is. Sky's kinda dark like it was back then again today, but it's probably nothing.

I wouldn't disregard the smaller signs. They tend to be the most telling. [ Mr. Gold leans back against his cane. ] How is damage to this world any proof that it will happen to ours? Have you actually seen the effects in your own world? Or, are we simply going off the words of our wardens?

Did they start bringing in lawyers? [Karolina can't help but ask. Because he looks like one. He's very well-dressed. And well-dressed in her parents circles either meant lawyer, actor, or evil.]

It seems as if they have. [ He gives her a smile. ] I wonder what they think a lawyer can do for them. Even if I do dabble in other things.

[Her eyes go wide.] What, you really are a lawyer? I was just joking.

It's one of my many... talents. [ Mr. Gold nods his head towards her in a motion of greeting. ]

Erm... there isn't really a contract? But I guess... well, [the young man sighs, and pushes his hand through his hair] We save the place. If we die doing it, they can bring us back. But they... they're not that nice. People disappear, come back weeks later. If they come back at all. And there might not be anyone here who knows who you are.

And if you... if you have any powers? Or magic? Then the bracelet thing limits it. But the people were brought here? They're all pretty friendly.

I'm sorry that probably... wasn't the best pep-talk.

That all depends on how one wants to see our circumstance. You could look at it as they are forcing you into an unspoken contract, or simply keeping you prisoner until you do whatever they want. [ There's a hiss in his voice. Someone is far from being happy about all this. ] Then it sounds as if they have no control over our situation. How quaint.

I'm afraid not. [ It's a lie. But, he won't be telling people about his recently returned magic. ]

I don't need a pep-talk. Simply answers, my young friend. Which you've provided an adequate amount of.

I guess that... well, we don't have much choice anyway. When things got bad before... they left us to deal with it. I mean, they said it was what we had to do but I expected them to stick around or something? I think they all ran away. [Teddy sighs, and feels bad for the angry tone of his voice. Not everyone is a hero. That's why heroes exist. The System has never exactly been... well, friendly. ]

That's alright. I guess it's easier that way, right? Then you don't have to worry about not being able to do something you did before.

Oh, well, I'm glad I could be useful. We've got to help each other where we can here, well most of us are working together. I'm Teddy, by the way. Teddy Altman.

You expected them to be cheerleaders? Just imagine our captors in those outfits. Maybe it's best if they didn't. [ There's a strained smile on his face. ]

Then why bring me at all? I simply own a town in my world. There's not much for a lawyer or pawnbroker to do to save the world. [ Especially one he doesn't care about, but, he won't be saying that bit. ]

Teddy is a peculiar name. [ He stores it away for later. Mr. Gold raises his hand with a bit of a wave. ] And mine is Mr. Gold.

[ Trickster face off! ]

They've given adequate information. I'd prefer finer details relating to our new found "home."

I don't suppose "whatever may come to mind" is specific enough?

If only we'd actually been given a contract. [That would be handy.]

[ He chuckles. ] Not every contract is a piece of paper that you sign, my dear. I find that very few truly are.

I suppose that may be half-true. Welcome to the city, despite the circumstances.

You're very kind, but, I have no intentions of staying any longer than it is required of me. [ The wheels are already turning in his head. There must be a way to exploit what they have here in this city. Someway of reversing whatever it is that brought him here. ] I don't suppose any of you know how they brought us here.
