[ And Kaylee did walk on by. It took about ten seconds before she quite comically stopped, did a 180 in her pretty glittery gold heels, and went- ]

Kate! [ and then she noticed the expression on the trapped gal's face and looked up, putting one and one together. ] Ai ya. Are ya okay?

[ Kaylee finally returns, heels clicking on the floor with a purpose as she glares at anyone that gets too close. She stops at a safe distance, eying the shoe in Kate's hand a bit curiously. Crap. Some guys must've come pretty damn close. Just let them come by again. Kaylee's now armed with a broom and can shoo them away like her mama does. Her mama is a pro at broom weaponry. ]

I'm back. I hope this is enough. [ Even after she takes the spare paper plate off the platter to separate out her share of the food and drink there's still a good amount for Kate on there. She doesn't even hesitate getting back on the floor again, this time all the way to her knees. She lines the platter up and gets the broom. It's like awkward pool. ]

Ya ready?

[A little chuckle escapes Kate at the stolen tray. She drops the shoe and moves to kneel on the floor as well. She doesn't want there to be a spill, which would cause others to come closer.]

Ready. [Kate nods, reaching her hand a little ways before the 'barrier'.]

[ She nods, look of determination on her face as she starts to push the platter across the floor. Scraaaaaaaape.

Thank her moment of genius that said 'steal a rectangular platter not a circular one' because this is working out great. No need to chase the platter around. Just push it straight. Triumph replaces that determined look as the platter finally makes it to Kate's waiting hand without any spills. ]

[They must look ridiculous to everyone else. And, frankly, Kate doesn't care. She's in trouble and Kaylee understands, and bros up and gets Kate what she needs. The tray reaches her fingertips and she pulls it closer to her, grabbing a shrimp puff.] Thanks, Kaylee. I don't know who else would have done this.

[ Kaylee knows she's gotta look ridiculous but it doesn't matter. The idea worked and now Kate has food and a much needed drink. She sits back on her legs, broom at her side and at the ready to literally bat away anyone who gets too close. Her fingers reach for a shrimp puff on her own small plate, raising it in a sort of toast. ]

You're welcome. I couldn't just leave ya standin' there. [ What sort of trollbro would she be? ] It ain't a party without a story to tell an' we got us a good one here. 's got a broom an' everythin'.

Yeah. Evil mistletoe. Remind me to always look up when I walk from now on. [Kate huffs, popping the puff in her mouth.]

Definitely. And if we're together, one of us will focus on looking up, the other will stop them from falling into a manhole or something.

[ She nods as she does a little scan of the area. So far they're being left alone still. Probably because it looks like they're having an odd little picnic in the middle of the party. ] 's about teamwork.
