So no brawl with the padre. But I think I have decided that I'm either going to lease a Liberty for two years, only because they can get me in to one for under 200 dollars a month. Or I'm going to buy a car. What kind of car, not sure. I've always really liked the Jetta, my parents have one, I like the way it looks, it's dependable and I can get a ( Read more... )

I strongly suggest against any VW's, they have the lowest quality of any vehicle made, and I supported their roadside and customer service at one point and know they always have trouble.

Stick with the Jeep. I'm telling you.

Really? See because my parents are totally against me buying my Jeep or any Chrysler at all because of the poor quality (well pretty much any American car). My parents have had a Jetta for 10 years with over 120,000 miles on it and there have been minimal issues with it. I did hear a couple of years ago that there were issues with the Jetta, but I haven't heard much of that lately.

I wish I could buy a Jeep because I love the car and I get a discount through my best friends Mom, but even four years into my lease I'm already having issues with it. A five hundred dollar bill to fix a crankshaft censor (right after my 30,000 mile check up and right after it came off of warranty, of course) makes me really wary about buying a Jeep that I'm going to have much longer than four years. I don't really need it for its size because I rarely if ever use all the space in my Jeep and gas prices right now are through the roof, and at 20 miles per gallon in the city it's costing me close to 50 bucks to fill that thing up.

I have had two PT Cruisers and have excellent service and reliability with them. My husband has a Sebring and that's been even better, and he had a Stratus before that. I have never had a Jeep though (my b-i-l has one that has lasted a pretty long time, and he lives on a nasty dirt road in Armada).

VW has the documented worse track record with quality in Consumer Reports and other areas that track that. When I told the team I supported with VW that I had always wanted to get one, they told me DON'T. And I worked with someone that had a Passat and I must have taken her to the dealership to pick up her car from service at least 8 times in 2 years (Troy Motor Mall).

This is just my experiences.
