Well, I've been having even more thoughts about my Star Trek game.  I'm tossing up ideas for ships, and here is what I've come up with.

The first option is an Archer-class scout.

I'm trying to find something midway between the Archer and the Kremlin so I can have a crew of about 30... searches thus far are coming up NADA

Unfortunately, I don't know any starfleet ship designs in the 30-40 crew size in Original Series time period.

The Kzin aren't an "official" part of the Star Trek Universe, at least not as far as Paramount is concerned. They did appear in "the Slaver Weapon" episode of animated Trek, and I've always loved the big orange cats. I've always included them in my ST games, and this is the second time I've featured them as the main protagonist.

If you get a chance read the Slave Weapon original from Larry Niven - its a good book, along with the whole future history series.

I used to own all of the Known Universe books, but now only have the Mote in God's Eye and the Mote Around Murchinson's Eye... granted, not Known Space books, but damned damned good none the less.

I like the final one mostly because I associate with it being in the Star Fleet Recognition manual done back in the 70's. I cant remember you going to game in the new Trek Verse?

I still haven't decided 100% if I will be gaming in the new universe, mate... it's certainly an option though.

I vote in favour of new universe because it allows you freedom to diverge on points if you choose to
It also sets a good precedent for other people who may want to tackle Trek as well in the future - giving them leeway to do other alternates.
