Many bookstores carry them, usually in the Children's section. Times like this it's helpful to have a Jewish spouse!

In all seriousness, I'd try game stores. Not ones that lean towards gaming and RPGs, but ones that have puzzles, stuff like that. Failing that, I'd try toy stores or maybe antique shops.

Are there any flea markets or such nearby? I don't remember LA being particularly conductive of flea markets, but, I've found that you can find all manner of multinational goodies in them, judaic stuff included.
