My family have taken it upon themselves to point out that my "clothes don't fit". Which is true, most of my trousers are ether a size 12, and too small, or a size 14, and to baggy.

So if I wear my size 12's, It gets pointed out that I've put on a lot of weight.

I have, I've gone up 1 1/2 stone over christmas, and am still well within a healthy weight ( Read more... )

Haven't seen you in the flesh in a while, but I really shouldn't bother.
Besides "clothes don't fit" is different from "you're fat".
At work, we have a lot of women's mags (celebrity and real-life horror story types) and it's depressing how obsessed they are with weight. Sure, it matters to some extent, but so many other things are so much more important and that's what they fixate on. (I'd be depressed for my gender, but I've seen the stuff that's aimed at men).

I AM bigger than I was 2 months ago, but I think my family are overreacting.
Isn't it normally the person getting bigger who worries about these things?

I've only seen you via webcam, but you certainly didn't look fat *at all*.

However, that's not really the issue here. If people are criticising the way you look, it probably says more about how they feel about their own appearance rather than how they feel about yours. In other words, people who think a lot about their own size will notice it in other people more. (However you may not want to point this out to them).

As long as you're healthy, it doesn't matter. There's far more important things to worry about :)
