 So in my own life, lots of joy. But I've been thinking about this joy of the day thing. Joy is great--as long as it doesn't turn into attachment. To me, joy is something that I can love and relish and then let go of, but attachment is the feeling that I must have this person, event, thing, moment, experience, or I can't be happy. Like happiness, I rather think of joy as being something one works at. The obvious things we find joy in take no real effort, or they may if we are not in the right frame of mind. To me the secret has always been to find that joy in the least expected areas.

Yeah. I struggled so much last year with the sale of Grandma's house (to be fair it's been in the family 100 years) and I think it's what's keeping me in this crappy apartment.

Attachment to places has caused me to have problems all through my life--mostly especially the beach house. I really need to be able to go there, and it has caused problems in both my marriages.

Keep the thoughts coming. I don't define myself as anything, but like the Buddhist perspective on attachment and try to apply it to my own life. It works (when it works!).
