Double Drabble - Braggart

Jan 18, 2010 11:04

Joshamee Gibbs did not think himself a braggart. He was more of what you might call an embellisher, a teller of tales, a weaver of words. Could he help that the subject of most of his more colorful stories was the epitome of that same word?

Captain Jack Sparrow.

Ah! The tales that could be told about him. And tell them, he did. In shadowy corners of ( Read more... )

Awww.. that last line is so wistful, implying they haven't seen each other in a very long time. Beautifully written.

Thank you. I did imagine Gibbs, later on in life, reliving his past through his tales.

Flickering candle light, hushed words... yes, a weaver of magic is our Gibbs.

Awwww, poor Gibbs. He shouldn't worry, how can anyone forget Jack?

True, true. Nice to see you again. And yes, Gibbs is trying his hardest not to forget, be it Jack or just the adventures they shared.

I like to think it's a little bit of both.

Thanks for reading!

Very chilling!!

For Gibbs', telling the truth could be too easily thought a lie. As we've all said often (maybe not with Jack Sparrow in mind at the time) "You can't make up anything stranger than the truth."

Braggart? No. Embellisher? For sure. It's fun to see him equivocate. Very characteristic!

I sense that Gibbs is very comfortable in his position of in the shadow of the famous Captain Jack Sparrow. Like a reporter gathering notes.

Good stuff!!

I believe Gibbs is in his glory recounting tales of daring do, and does not mind the least being the storyteller to Jack's legend.

And, as time weakens and wearies, I imagine Gibbs enjoys the remembrances of the days when he was a younger and more able man. Not to mention the perks he now receives retelling them.

Thanks for reading, I love Gibbs, as you well know.

A man, sitting in the more shadowy corner of the tavern smiled into his tankard, listening to the seasoned sailor weave his yarn, watching his audience both yelping in astonishment, and scoffing in sheer disbelief ( ... )

Fantastic! I love the idea of Jack listening, nodding in agreement, enjoying the moment as well as the fact that Gibbs remembers.

And yes, he would go seek him out, renew acquaintances. I truly believe that Gibbs was one of the only true friends Jack ever had. Outside of Will, of course. :)

Thank you so much for the addition. It completes the story. And opens up the possibility for more, at the same time.

Oh, good. I was afraid I was intruding, which certainly wasn't my intention. It just...happened.

More, you say? ;)
