It has been 4 years since I have seen anything beyond the walls of this padded room.  But today I will be released, and shall once again taste freedom.  I passed my psych eval and the powers that be have determined that I am stable enough to return to society.  The only condition of my release is that I don’t go anywhere near Caroline ( Read more... )

As an aside, the link you posted in the topic was simply the link to your LJ, which confused me a bit when I got here!

But this was really fun and fascinating, although I felt Alvina and Caroline should have borne more responsibility in the process, and especially since they still have a growing plant.

Clearly, this plant is hungrier than Little Shop of Horrors' Audrey II!

Creepy plant ..... gave me the horror movie feel .....something on the lines of Chucky in Child's Play !!!! Well Done with the narrative and oh yes the last line very strong to let one know how difficult it is get out of one's addiction .... Sigh !!!! Makes me curious where the plant will take them all though ...

I was going for creepy with the flowers, so I am glad that came thru and the last line was very delibrate. I am glad you enjoyed it. Not sure where they might wind up.

This first person summary, in its simplicity, is actually my favorite of all your short stories so far. I like the way it flows, the rhythm, the speed, and the inevitability of its reveal... and it does so with a kind of subtle whimsy that is quite appealing.

I really liked the combination of science, obsession, and humor in this story, and the ending? Perfection. :D
