There are some ladies in my community that are obviously doing something very right in terms of their children's chinuch

I remember when I first moved in over a decade ago, a group of girls around 5th - 8th grade came over to my house to help me unpack and in a couple of hours had gone through about 25 boxes - a huge huge chesed. And as I recall, YOU were one of them! So, maybe, you're reaping some of your schar. It also says something good about your parents. (My love to your mom, btw.)
