The financial strain of daycare is really something, and is a thing I resent a lot socio-politically. Having to be "on" all the time is also remarkable. And oh, that phrase. I pretty much start babbling about my support network, too, but sometimes I say, yeah. It's completely doable, and pretty freakin' hard.
I used to think about that a fair amount too. My standby response was always, "I don't always do it well" which, like you pointed out, didn't give myself much credit.
(And you're right, it does get easier as they get older.)
