Edith Newsome, Bill's 97-year-old grandmother, died yesterday after another fall and surgery (broken arm this time). Bill's decided not to go to the memorial... he and Linc had a good visit with her in April

Hopefully the pain will pass soon and you can think of nothing but good thoughts about her. Sounds like you guys are handling it well though. I only hope that I get to live that long.
What a nice idea. I am sure we have plenty to share but except for a spoon I won't send anything until after the move. What a nice little entry. Thank you. She always enjoyed the visits.
I wish there was more we could be doing to help out. If you could use some big muscles for a few days, let me know and I'll send Clay out there... he's actually pretty good at galootin'.
Big hugs to you and Paul. Let us know when the memorial will happen... we'd like to send something.
Hi, Lorraine. Wow, now we get to bond over dead moms.
I'm bumping this because I want you to go back to this entry and read the post that Sheryl made (should be right below this one on the journal page).
Also... we sent something for the memorial; hopefully someone will be able to recycle it for the church or hospital once its purpose has been served.
Hope things are going well. I wish I could be there for you in this crazy time, but I'm sure you understand. Please know I'm thinking of you and hoping you'll be able to visit soon.
Hey, you wouldn't be interested in any quilting books, would you? If so, let me know... I've got a pile here that I can send to you if you want 'em (for your own personal library or for distribution in whatever manner you see fit).
Lots of love and hopes for a nice, calm few months after this!
I'm very sorry to hear of Edith's passing. My thoughts are with all of you.
I have long believed that funerals are for the living, and that the last visit with someone is so much more important than the first visit without them. So I am glad that Bill and Linc were able to see her so recently, and that the memory will be kept fresh.
When I think about how I want things to go for me many years down the road, I often think of Paul and Lorraine and how they were willing to care for Edith for so many years, as a true reciprocation for the kindness and support a parent gives. I look forward to doing the same things for my parents, and to teaching my son that it's the right thing to do for me. So if you're reading this, Lorraine, please share that sentiment with Paul as well.
