They should have taken care of this as soon as BALCO made the news. It has already reached the point where the game's history will be damaged.
I'm just waiting for them to find out about pitchers taking steriods as well. One in ten players taking steroids is far too many. What do we do if the numbers come out much higher than that? Isn't it clear that MLB has dropped the ball on this? The owners will let the players strike over money issues but they aren't willing to force an issue that the public is 100% on their side on? If the owners are tired of being strong-armed by the Player's Association then this is the issue to take a stand on. If the players fight it they will lose.
I agree 100%. The steroid thing is sickening. It's rather disapointing looking at players and wondering which ones are on steroids and which ones aren't. I think part of the reason they aren't jumping on it is because it seems the casual fan really loves the long ball homeruns. A coworker of mine, said Barry Bonds is the best player in baseball right now. My fellow coworkers who actually know baseball all scoffed, but I think that is the attitude of the casual fan and that's why they're not taking quite the interest in it as they should.
Fuck Barry Bonds. That is an insult to Albert Poljus. Barry can't field, can't run, and doesn't walk all the time because he is so good. He walks all the time because there is no one hitting behind him. Look at how many times the Babe was walked, he had Gerigh hitting behind him and played in an era where you didn't walk people. With the revelation this morning I don't even think he is the greatest player of his generation. That title goes back to Ricky Henderson in my book.
I think all these guys record should be striped. Landis would have already band these guys three ways till sunday.
