Summary: It’s your first day at a new school, in a country you’ve only heard about in History class. Can you really fit in this place when you’re only an “American”?
A/N: I might be running out of things to say…gosh. Well, please continue to enjoy this Fanfic, and if there is any typos or anything of the like, please point it out, I’m known amongst my friend for creating several typos when chatting online.
Lunch time came up after the uninteresting lesson on photosynthesis and plants. When the teacher called you up earlier, you had no trouble providing the answer without even batting an eye, but nevertheless Mr. Lee requested that you pay more attention in the class before you had sat down. You were sitting with Shingdong, Kibum, and Siwon again today, but Jessica and Taeyon were missing, and some new faces were at your table. Ending as you to be the only girl there and you were shrinking in your place at the table everytime you saw one of the new people looking at you oddly.
“Jongwoon, stop that already, you’re making her uncomfortable.” Shingdong pointed out. The one named Jongwoon broke his gaze and looked over at Shingdong innocently, his raven black hair and cross earrings waving as he turned.
“I can’t help it! You know it’s a habit of mine.” He said defensively. Shingdong sighed, caving in to the stranger and focused his attention onto you.
“Sorry, ___-sshi, he isn’t doing it intentionally, it's a habit of Jongwoon’s to look at people’s philtrums.“ you nodded in acknowledgement, but didn’t know what he meant.
“Shingdong, maybe some introductions would help first?” a older student interrupted smoothly, his hair was a light color mixed in between brown and orange. Shingdong looked at the elder slightly annoyed.
“Are you going to introduce yourself, umma?” he retorted. The bulk of a man sitting next to the elder snapped his head up and instantly threw a piece of trash toward Shingdong.
“Is that any way to talk to your sonbaenim?” he asked harshly, standing up, the elder looked over him and placed a hand on his arm to calm the guy down. Once he sat down, the elder looked at you and smiled gently.
“I’m sorry about that ___-sshi, I’m Park Jungsu, but everyone calls me Leeteuk instead. The one looking at you like you’re a piece of jewelry he can’t afford is Jongwoon, but people call him Yesung. Next over is Ryeowook, and this grizzly bear next to me is Kangin.” He placed a kiss on Kangin’s cheek and then pinched it like a Aunt would.
“It’s nice to meet you all.” You bowed your head in respect and the four followed suit. “I’m sorry this is off-topic, but does anyone know why Heechul has a mark on his face? I thought he was only in a dance competition.” Hearing this, Kangin stiffened and Leeteuk frowned a bit. Siwon’s eyes glazed over slightly and he clasped his hands together, tensing them and relaxing, tensing and relaxing.
“Heechul…and Kanign got into a quick fight in the beginning of morning classes.” Leeteuk sighed.
“Why?” you questioned, taken a bit aback. Kangin shifted in his seat and locked his eyes with yours.
“Because that bitch friend of yours is becoming a really huge nuisance.” Kangin said coldly, you tried to break eye contact and when you did you noticed Siwon’s hands were fully tensed. You weren’t the only one to notice, Kibum looked over to Siwon and grasped one of the hands with his own, thumb stroking over Siwon’s flesh in between his thumb and pointer finger. Siwon glanced at Kibum for a moment and then loosened his hands.
“He insulted Kangin and I again, so Kangin got upset and yelled him, but Heechul kept taunting him. After yelling a bit more, he finally hit Heechul. The only reason why it didn’t get any worse was a teacher, Ms. Lee Hyori, found them.“ Leeteuk continued. You looked over to Siwon again, he calmed down a bit but shook his head. You chewed your lip and thought aloud.
“I don’t know what’s going on with him, he’s been accepting and picking fights whenever, I thought that he’s only a Prima Dona, big ego and only cares about his looks. Maybe he’s trying to prove something?” All eyes were on you when you stopped. Leeteuk looked a bit guilty, Kangin was still furious, Shingdong wide eyed (with a piece of squid sticking out of his mouth), Kibum peered at you from his book, and Siwon looked like Jesus Christ had come and said that he would guide everyone to heaven. “What?!” you asked defensively, you backed into your seat a bit.
“What if…he needed something new in his life??” Siwon asked.
“A girlfriend?” you and the peanut gallery finished. Siwon frowned, knowing no one understood what he meant.
“Well, I meant-“
“Don’t say God.” Kibum interrupted bluntly. Siwon closed his mouth and pouted.
“But-“
“He doesn’t want to be Christian so don’t force it on him.” Siwon’s eyebrows sunk so much he almost looked like a puppy.
“But I’m not-“
“Can we change the topic, please?” Ryeowook piped up. Yesung hug Ryeowook with one arm for assurance. Ryeowook smiled sweetly and nuzzled his face in Yesung’s neck.
“As rude as he is, if we tried to do something, maybe we can make things better?”Leeteuk pondered.
“You mean the girlfriend idea?” Yesung asked , interested. Leeteuk, nodded gracefully and then got out a student directory. A few puzzled looks flew around the table as to WHY he had the student directory.
“What? No one knew I’m part of the Student Council??” he asked innocently. Shingdong and KangIn seemed to lose interest at this point and continued on with their eating. Everyone else bore melded expressions. Yesung laughed bitterly.
“Umma, is there ANYTHING you aren’t participating in?” Leeteuk bit back his lip and looked hurt toward Yesung. Answer, obviously yes. Then he shook his head, flicked himself in the forehead muttering to himself.
“Teukie, no time to be crying over disrespectful children, pull yourself together!” and soon chirped, “Right then! What we need to do is pull together a list of what kind of girls Heechul-sshi may like. Any suggestions Siwon what his type could possibly be?” Siwon’s eyes darted at attention when mentioned. Until the eyebrows sunk and nearly shadowed them in concentration.
“Well, Hyung normally doesn’t talk about girls like that, in fact he kind of insults them… Mostly about their beauty and personalities, but ___-sshi seems to have a good influence on him. He may be getting into more fights right now, but he’s been going to class more, he hasn’t fussed over his looks as much. ” he pauses and laughs at a inside joke, “In fact, he hasn’t taken his anger out on Hangen in awhile, he’s always had the bad habit of taking his anger out on foreigners.” You raised a single eyebrow in disbelief and curiosity. He leaned over to get something out of his briefcase and when he rose back up, a bible was in his hand. You heard Yesung chuckle and Kibum scoff (You forgot he was still here for a minute.) as he cracked the spine and leafed through the delicate pages. Ten seconds later, he pulled out a small slip of paper and handed it to you. “It’s Hyung’s cell phone number. ___-sshi, are you free this weekend?”
You didn’t like where this was going. Leaving Siwon holding the paper out to you, you hurriedly made your protest voiced.
“You aren’t trying to set me up on a date with Heechul, are you? Because I won’t do it. Hes rude, selfish, troublesome, he’s gotten Sungmin mad at me, he almost broke up Eunhyuk and Donghae, people think I did something with him because of what he yelled, mind you, throughout the whole hallway for the world to hear. I don’t want to, I can’t do it, and so I won’t do it. You huffed as you fiercely mimed a zipper being closed along your mouth, lock it with a key and throw away the key! Unfortunately, when you were done, the responses you saw weren’t truly what you had expected. Those paying attention to your outburst now looked at you from surprised when you objected to dumbfounded. Kibum was the first to cut the silence and said hesitantly.
“What……..was that???” you could hear KangIn snort once and then a clear ‘thwack!’ after Leeteuk flicked his arm disapprovingly.
“An American child thing, it doesn’t matter.” You sighed, full-knowing it was going to be hard to get out of this. And as if on cue, Ryeowook spoke up.
“Noona, please will you do this? For us? I know you just met some of us, but if you did this I think everyone’s life would be easier.” Hearing this made your heart break as you caved in.
“Argh, fine, you all win. When is this supposed to be?” The whole table celebrated their easy victory with silent cheers and high fives while you rolled your eyes and mentally kicked yourself for your pitifully weak willpower. After spending the rest of lunch rapidly planning your date, the result was this:
1. Ask Heechul out after school today.
2. When he asks what you have in mind, say the mall
3. Meet him at 12 o’clock, SHARP, (As Siwon tipped that if anyone was late for longer than ten minutes Heechul would leave.)
4. Wear something ‘cute’, yet (To your extreme disagreement) ‘suggestive’
This shouldn’t have made you nervous, but when you found Heechul after school under a large tree, your legs were trembling and your face was beet red as you asked him in broken Korean.
“Would you go. Out on a date. With me?”
