When I was in high school I had a "friend" who used to make fun of me for "speaking posh". I remember another friend advised me to try and not speak so posh, because then I wouldn't draw attention to myself! Next time I see you I should pay more attention. I always thought you talked like Damien. Now I know to imitate you so I can sound posh!

Actually, growing up in the South with Northern parents, I learned to pick up "no accent" (this term is ricockulous now, I know) so as not to offend anyone, but still people thought I was acting too smart. Funny how those stigmas when you're a kid go completely opposite when you grow up.

Hey! (Oh gosh, I realized I didn't get back to you about the birthday thing-- sorry!!! I should have told you sooner that I can't make it, sorry!!!)

Opposite-- meaning when I was a kid, sounding "posh" was something to be made fun of. I got picked on for being "smarter" than everyone else, for thinking I was better than others because I could do better in class... and now that I've gotten an education and left the po-dunk town and seen the world, I find myself looking down on the po-dunk town and seeing the bullies of my childhood as useless bullies rather than cool kids I aspire to be just like. Does that make sense?
