I'm feeling too drowsy to write a long post tonight, so instead I thought I'd break this topic down into a series. (I can hear you cheering my innovation from here.) The first movie in my list is Foxcatcher... [MEGA spoilers under the cut]For those of you who aren't true crime freaks like me, "Foxcatcher" was originally the name of an estate belonging to John DuPont. Way back

ITA! This tragedy has a lot of angles to it (e.g., mental health issues and how they were overlooked due to the abuse of money and power). It could be an incredible movie if handled correctly, but I'm always a bit nervous when mental illness is dramatized. I'm eager to see what they make of it.
I don't know why Steve Carell is mostly just recognize for his comedic roles; he is a damn good character actor.
Oh god, 50 shades of shit is featured in the trailer, too. A movie the world doesn't need. The book was horrible enough. It's insulting that this shit sells whereas really good authors are ignored. The whole story, including the sex scenes, is written so poorly it hurts! It's the same shitty stereotype sexist shit as Twilight, just with actual sex.

I completely agree. My performance of his so far has been the uncle in Little Miss Sunshine. I've watched it several times, and each time I come away impressed with how subtly he plays that part.
(Sorry for the edit, hit return too soon...)
Okay, I know I'm going to come off a little bit of a prude here but...
I'm a bit disturbed by how trendy S&M has become. I'm of the opinion that a healthy, adventurous sex life is a good thing between two consenting adults, but the 50 Shades books seem to attract the pre-/early teenTwilight crowd, JMO as an old, but having a healthy, plain-old vanilla sex life is difficult enough. Ideally people should learn how to manage that before getting into anything more delicate.
Aw, Little Miss Sunshine. I didn't even think of that, but yes, I agree!

No, you're right about all these points. People are bound to be disappointed with their own sex lives if they take anything from books like this for real. What really shocked me is how many people are gushing about how daring and thrilling the described sex is, when really it is mostly awkward and completely unrealistic. If anyone had written that shit in a fanfic, I'd have hit the back arrow very quickly. How many girls do you know who lost their virginity like that and immediately had multiple orgasms. Uhm, no.
And yes, plain old vanilla sex is an art, you might want to start with in the beginning. Honestly, even simple anatomy lessons would be a better start than this!
