From Evolving Thoughts, I present a list of "106 books of pretension most often marked as unread" by LibraryThing (which I can only assume is some kind of reading website).

What I've read is bolded, what I've never finished is in italics and what I will NEVER read is struck through.

I didn't finish One Hundred Years of Solitude or Satanic Verses, either. I've always thought Marquez and Rushdie would write beautiful short stories, but I've found their writing style in novels too lavish and rich to digest. Especially Rushdie, the king of tangents and unnecessary character introductions.

I can lend you the Life of Pi and The Poisonwood Bible anytime you like. Stay away from Oryx and Crake, Atwood is criminally overrated.
