Mon:  2 mile run in Noe Valley.  Weds:  2.2 mile run in Noe Valley.

My new-to-me iPod loves Spacemen 3.  Seriously, anytime it's on shuffle, you can guaran-damn-tee that Spacemen 3 will come up at some point.  Its "random" setting is weird that way.  My last iPod loved the Pietasters, to the point I had to remove their mediocre third-wave ska albums ( Read more... )

It seems to change based on what's on there. It's clearly and "i like to choose this random number over others", but what's in that slot seems to change.

That said, mine fucking loves sigur ros. Luckily, so do I.

There was a story about this a couple of years ago on the internets, about how the algorythm for the iPod's shuffle was not very random. I think if you searched iLounge you would find it. But yeah, Bauhaus will invariably do this on mine.

Yeah, Rancid comes up all the time too, but that's because I have every single Rancid album, plus all their spinoff bands, loaded up on my 'Pod. So that's just numerically likely. Spacemen 3, though...I've got one frickin' record, and I think that's even like a six-song EP. There's no way it should appear this often.

See, I really enjoy the thought that I'm probably the only person in the history of recorded musics that listens to, say, Marc Almond followed by Deicide followed by When In Rome followed by Discharge. Hence, I love shuffle. (And you know you can set your books-on-tape to never appear on shuffle, right?)

Smart playlists I have never figured out. As much as I use my iPod, I suppose I ought to.
