It's that time of year again...

The SIFF schedule was released to day, and I've been meaning to go through it ALL DAY, but have been too busy. So I'm just quick skimming through the online calendar to see what there is to see. I'll put up a more comprehensive list with explanations of why I want to see things later, hopefully ( Read more... )

So:
Moon was awesome. I really enjoyed, and yes, Sony Pictures Classics has picked it up in America and it will be getting a real release in Landmark style theatres in June. I saw it with the director present, and his Q&A was awesome, without question the best I had seen. I really liked the movie.
Also of note, I was able to find a copy of Ip Man. It was profoundly okay. The fight scenes were good and awesome, but the movie in general was pretty flat, it had like no emotional resonance, and basically became just a string of challeneges and combat. I think they tried for emotion, but it didn't work very well. Basically, Fearless made the movie its bitch, because it has a much stronger emotional core, and the fight sequences are just as good, just different.

I had a chance to go over your list and I agree that those look interesting.

I definitely want to see Moon, but you're right, we'll see it in a Landmark release.

I've heard good things about the first OSS 117... we should watch that then decide if we'll watch the sequel.

Two others that might be interesting
Zift - It's film noir... I'm a sucker for film noir.
Krabat - Could be a decent dark fantasy.
