Kill me now

Nov 14, 2008 13:17

Injected animal with terminal dose of anesthetic at 9:08 AM.
Gave animal booster injection at 12:50 PM.
Animal is still unconscious at 1:18 PM.

Don't you just love that moment when you realize your only hope to get out at a reasonable hour is that your animal suddenly up and dies before you get your data?

Le sigh.

fun with urethane, research, grad school

For the most part I'm pretty okay with it, although clearly less so than some I work with (if I had a dollar for every time JP has told me "If the mouse starts squealing, just close the door and keep going as fast as you can..."

My main source of stress/frustration/borderline bipolar is pretty much the generic bane of grad students: experiments going meh and lack of results. I know that in the long run I will eventually do enough of these surgeries to A: get good at them, and B: actually get results, but right now I'm pretty sick of having to show up by 8:30 so I can prep for a surgery that wouldn't be over until 5 or 6 if I'm lucky... and I'm usually not lucky. Bleh.
