You should all watch "Orange is the New Black." I know everyone is saying you all should watch it, and you might be tired of hearing it (I was) but trust me, there's a reason for that tidal wave of recommendations that this show it getting. It's seriously amazing. It starts kind of slow, and I wasn't terribly impressed, but it gets so much better

David and I started watching Orange is The New Black - I really liked it. I love fish out of water stories and the way that all the women are portrayed as people, not character stereotypes, not just cardboard props with boobs to fill a particular episode plot - the show does something that few these days manage to do. The show has REAL people in it. I love that

don't people realize that they don't get brownies for shit like that? IF YOU HAVE TO LOVE SOMEONE 'IN SPITE OF', THEN YOU"RE NOT BEING ANYWHERE NEAR AS GOOD OF A PERSON YOU THINK YOU ARE. I wish they'd stop patting themselves on the backs for loving "hard cases" like you and me, because the truth of the matter, that just makes it all about THEM. "Oh, look how good a person I am, loving this hard-to-love-person-over-here" - yeah, fuck you, asshole. I want people to love me FOR me, not IN SPITE of me.

OMFG THIS. I feel like loving someone "in spite of" is incredibly arrogant, and I don't have that right. Loving someone "even though they're all fucked up" implies that I'm perfect and have any right to complain about other people's flaws. LOL NO.
