So I called in last night because I was so sick I could barely stand up, and my friends Floyd and Danielle came over to sit with me and they brought me medicine. I have awesome friends and some people are awesome

Dani, stop getting up in arms over every little thing you find on the internet. Bah, you're being way too oversensitive and taking the fun out of a pretty harmless song. You're just being combative. This song is not saying that rape is funny in any way shape or form, it's saying that this guy's REACTION to rape is funny, which is a totally different thing, and you just don't understand that because you're too oversensitive about things that are popular instead of all the real offensive issues out there, like rape and classism and poverty and a culture that victimizes the poor and then mocks their legitimate angry reactions to their repeated victimization. Jesus, get mad about something REAL for once.
Something "real," like...people not being allowed to laugh at things that are actually hurtful? There are things we maybe shouldn't laugh at and instead do something about? HORRORS! *clutches pearls, faints*
I loved your comment. I expect it to make Andrew's head explode (I'm not sexist! how DARE you insinuate that I'm sexist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but I don't really care. He was pissy at work and refusing to talk to me (over a fight we had on Facebook) so that means he's just oversensitive, right? :-p
I personally think the song is awesome because I think the brother is awesome. Hell yes, find that rapist punk's ass and toast it. Oh, snap - you're both evil and an idiot.
That said ... yeah, what you guys already said. That.

Yeah, that's how I felt too when I first heard the story, but every comment I'd been reading lately was mocking the brother, and that started to make me stabby. The kicker was when a bunch of my friends on Facebook who are all black and from the projects and who also all talk like this guy started making fun of him (because they're in college, which makes them way better than him, you see). That pushed me over the edge. And then of course my post, which was about how I don't like people mocking the brother, sparked this huge pissy rant about how this guy thinks the song is funny and I'm taking the song too seriously, when my post wasn't even about that.
I sorta feel like I hijacked your post with four more comments when I got home from work :/ Sorry.
I love that you write about it on FB. I love that you write about it here. I love that you talk about it time after time and don't apologize for it, don't back down, and don't waver.
A lot of what I've been writing/reading lately has come from things that you've said, or places you've recommended. You're really in my head and heart right now.
(That probably sounds creepy. Not meant creepy!) I'm really, for the first time, seeing a lot of the feminism and racism and sexism and genderqueer issues and REALLY thinking about it, and I want you to know that you have been such a huge inspiration for that, and continue to be.
That doesn't sound creepy. You're in my head and heart a lot too (also not meant creepily). I loved how you totally jumped Andrew's shit for what he said. I wasn't awake for the start of this, so I'm glad you picked up the slack.
