As Kallen exited the hospital wing after visiting Lavi, she overheard some people talking about some party going on in one of the security guard's rooms and that there would be alcohol. After thinking about it for a few seconds, Kallen decided to check it out.

Knocking on the door and pushing it open, she noticed that quite a few people had arrived, but none that she knew. So, she stood against the wall and looked at the coffee table, wondering what she should have.

Keiichi moved his hand away. "I...I don't know..!"

[strahlpilot]

He barely nodded. "I can listen to you and help you sort out what you might feel or believe about it, but I won't force an outcome on you, Keiichi. As much as I'd like you to trust me, perhaps that will never happen."

Balthier seemed upset to think about that.

[paranoidbat]

"Rena...Rena didn't trust me...I...I shot at those girls....she didn't trust me, but I wasn't like that..." Keiichi said, his other hand going to his head, starting to shake it. "No, no, no..."

[strahlpilot]

"You didn't want to shoot at them, but something made you?" he guessed. Whatever was going on in Keiichi's head obviously needed to be sorted out.

"....no." Keiichi said softly. He grabbed a beer from beside Balthier, opening up and started to chug it. He didn't want to think about it! THAT WASN'T HIM ANYMORE!

[strahlpilot]

He raised an eyebrow, but didn't stop Keiichi from drinking. "Whatever you've done before doesn't make you any less trustworthy now. The same can be said for anyone, even me." Balthier found some soda to mix with the whiskey someone had thankfully left sitting out.

Keiichi had downed the whole drink before lowering the container. "...doing it for money...is different..."

[strahlpilot]

"I was sixteen. I didn't think I had a choice but to do what my father had set up for me. That's what everyone close to me did, after all. But the more I did it, the more I grew to hate it and everything around me. I wanted freedom and took it as soon as I got the chance." He sipped the strong drink, speaking slowly so as not to slur his words.

Keiichi grabbed another bottle, opening it up. "...did you really?"

[strahlpilot]

He nodded slowly. "Left and became a pirate for my own sanity. I-"

Before he could say anything else, Balthier's eyes grew glassy and he slumped over. Someone had slipped something in the soda he'd grabbed, leaving the pirate unconscious.

Keiichi's eyes widened. "BALTHIER!" He shouted, dropping the bottle and rushing over to Balthier. "Balthier! Wake up!"

[strahlpilot]

Whatever else he had to say would have to wait. He was out cold, the drink now spilled on the floor near him. Balthier looked to be simply asleep, and he'd probably be just fine come morning.
