I am told that the sun is falling on to the sea north of Berwick, which could explain the rain.

The Met Office website certainly makes the north-east look pretty wet at the moment.

The information came from my sister who was on a train between Newcastle and Edinburgh; it has been sunny most of the day in Northumberland, but the clouds were gathering again as she approached Edinburgh.
