comparitive theology

soooo, ya... I'm thinking I should look into comparative theology again. It's something that has interested me from time to time in the past, and it's been quite a while since I read up on it. So, I started a little list, and wanted some insight on what anyone who reads this thinks... (yea, all 2 of you).. Anyway, my list so far includes ( Read more... )

Okay. Either A: You've been talking to Tessa and our conversation came up or B: This is a super weird coincidence.

If A than everything is kosher. If B than I'm afraid I have to quietly dispose of you. Nothing personal. Reasons are very complicated.

But really, come to the club sometime. In addition to being next to a (hah! the)mosque, The Other Pete has a very thorough knowledge of the muslim faith.
I prefer to connect rather than compare. So many connections...

Uhhhh... Well, I haven't been talking to Tessa regarding any type of Theology or Mythology in a looooong time... Also, I must say that I would have to object to being disposed of, that would be counter-productive to my studies. AND there's the fact that I would have to at least try to do something about it, which could get messy.

So, the club eh? I might be able to do that... I've been meaning to get over there to see about buying one of my friends books anyway.

ttyl, and thanks...

Yes, yes, self defense, blah blah blah...

I may or may not have read some of the uber secret Scientology stuff on freenet. Is so very weird. Until you stop to think about, you know, every other religion. You gotta shake off those body thetans!

Anyway, words. I don't know if you'd noticed by the indian persona, but I am a bit of an indophile. I'm going to illustrate a fun little word life history.

Jesus
Jesu
Yeshua: aramaic? I've long thought the messianic jews should be the only people that could call themselves christians. I know "J" in hebrew is usually pronounced "Y"
Isa: arabic
Isvara/Ishvara: Sanskrit word mean "O Supreme Lord" meaning god in the monotheistic sense. Brahma? Krishna was said to speak Ishvara's word. Sound familiar? Krishna was born in a prison cell and raised by cowherders.

There's a lot more I'd say, but am still filling in the cracks in my theory.

Aren't words fun?!
