My day was much better today, except for one unfortunate incident. I was powering through on my Little House dress and got it almost all cut out and started assembling things. I was sewing the darts on the polonaise, which is a cotton print flatlined with voile, but one of the darts was sewn wonky, so I was picking out the stitches using the seam ( Read more... )

Argh, I literally just did this, only it was the fashion fabric I put a hole in. I was able to hide the hole in the seam. But I was pretty pissed.

How frustrating! Have you tried using a pencil and marking just inside the seamlines? (Assuming you're marking seam lines, that is.)

I am marking seamlines. That's a really good idea! I will definitely do that for the ball gown stuff which is next.

I think the seam ripper was the culprit. I'm using a new one that came with the new machine and it's just not as flat as the usual one I use so it's tougher to get under the stitches. Plus I was rushing. :p
