Happy holidays! :D You really might want to head on over to serenity_santa, especially for this gem ("Teach Me to Hear the Mermaids Singing") from one of my favorite Mal/River writers, victoria p. (musesfool). Also, hope you all enjoyed your gifts of (presumably) shiny new Serenity DVDs. I know I did. WHOO ( Read more... )

And Mal swore he would never tell a soul how glad he was that this girl--this sweet, intelligent girl he understood perfectly, this angel who was far too young for slayin'--had helped to save his life.

Oh! Exactly in character, and perfectly beautiful.

Mal wrapped one arm around her head, lifted her waist easily with the other, and had the sudden and very special urge not to take her back to her quarters but carry her down to his own bed. To kiss her forehead and her cheek and her nose, to pull the covers over her shoulders and watch her breathe in peace. To wait for her to wake up and recognize the man who cared for her.

That is one of the sweetest passages I think that I have ever read. Almost made me cry; it's so lovely.

Well done, honey. Seriously well done. You have to write more!!!

HURRAY HURRAY HURRAY. I'm so glad those turned out right. And WHEE, you though that was in character! :D Your comment has made me quite giddy. Thanks for leaving it.

Boy, how did I happen to miss this?? What a nice beginning. I love River's "That's not going to work for me." LOL. And how even Inara leaving again can't even stand up against the pain of Wash and Book and Zoe's grief. Nice job! Now I have to go read part two. Yay!

Oh, oh! I love this. I love seeing Mal's POV since it seems to be so rare in Mal/River stories, and I think you've captured Mal very well. Beautiful beginning. :)

Thank you so much! Mal's POV is extremely hard, so it's a relief to hear that you thought it was good. I'm really glad you liked it and thanks so much for leaving a comment! :DDD

WOW! I have to say that I love this story. It is a masterful blending of movie canon and wonderful shippy goodness! I have started loving this ship just recently...I read my first Mal/River fic three hours ago and fell head over heels into the idea. You have stayed right up there with the other fine Mal/River Ficcer I read! Awesome! Perfect! Wonderful...and I am off to read part two...
