I remember back in 1996 I got on the bus back from college, and a friend of mine handed me a sheaf of papers. These would be the first usenet circulated jokes that I'd ever read, and the very first one was "Academic Programmers". (I made a few efforts to code tetris in three lines of ARM-BASIC after that!) I never knew Pete, but the world now seems a shade greyer than it did an hour ago.
