What the fucking fuck, Novell, Gnome and Ubuntu?

Jul 15, 2009 17:11

I swear that GNOME and Novell are trying to make desktop Linux Microsoft's bitch. Using the Silverlight Declarative UI stuff in Banshee? That's Microsoft patent central, and it's not covered by Microsoft's covenant not to sue, or even its agreement to license its patents under RAND terms. Microsoft could sue users and distributors of software using ( Read more... )

I've seen you making the same idiot claims that I'm a strong Mono supporter all over the place. It's interesting that one person spends so much time spreading the same untruths in so many directions.

You're a liar, Schestowitz is a liar, who's admitted to libeling me, posted a retraction, and apologized over precisely the claims you are making about me everywhere from Matthew Garret's blog to feministing.com.

What gives with you people? You can't make a case for your position on Mono without telling a bunch of lies? Even Schestowitz admitted that I'm "not a strong Mono supporter", so why are you continuing to repeat it?

If you want to get Mono out of Ubuntu so badly, why aren't you running for the Ubuntu Technical Board? Don't have the chops, so you thought you'd just tell a bunch of falsehoods?

Either provide better evidence than "Lefty's mad at Roy"--I'm fixing to sue Roy for his ongoing libels--or stop making this false claim.

Ah, you're... who exactly? I'm assuming you must be Lefty. Actually, I was trying to assume good intentions; the alternatives to you being a strong Mono supporter are... not exactly great.

This post is really not about you, though. Well, mostly not about you; you started the campaign to banish RMS, but it's how it was continued by others that's even more interesting to me. (That's, what, one sentence total?) Of course, if it wasn't for you piquing my curiousity, I'd probably not have spotted the really interesting pro-Mono stuff out there.

Because I don't? Seriously, Ubuntu's attitude to Mono is messed up, but I have better things to do than somehow single-handedly fix a huge chunk of the Free Software movement. I'm no ( ... )

And, of course, you don't say what those "alternatives" are.

Were you thinking of the alternative that I might have been honestly offended by Stallman's sexually-loaded joke, and that I might have sincerely expressed those feelings? After all, plenty of people, including many who don't even use Mono, like Matthew Garrett, like Chani, have expressed the same feelings.

Perhaps you had something different in mind. Let's hear it.

...you started the campaign to banish RMS...Actually, I've never suggested that RMS be "banished", and I'm not even sure how one might do that if one wanted to. I (as well as the non-Mono-using Matthew Garrett) have suggested that, if Stallman can't keep these offensive jokes in check, that he may not be a good choice to be giving keynotes at major technical conferences. I think what you're calling "a campaign" is rather a large number of people who feel that this view is their view as well ( ... )
