Fran x M.M and Fran the Mukuro's protégé was really... really felt like something out of doujinshi from a super-minor circle LOL I find your idea of picking up names in the hat totally plausible.
Attention to Goku-kun in recent chapters makes me really happy XD Gokudera used to be my favorite character earlier in the series (2759/5927 was the first KHR pairing I ever shipped). And then I began to love other characters more... but chapters 264 and 265 reflames my love for Goku-kun!
I suppose it was just a convenient way of tying all of the Kokuyou characters together (with the exceptions of Birds and the freaky twins, who can ROT IN HELL FOREVER). But I gotta say, of all the characters for Amano to pull back out of obscurity, M.M. was like the last one I expected.

I mean, surely as they were letting out Mukuro, something struck them as fishy? I mean, two subs from the Millefiore popping up and asking for a powerful Vongola to be released doesn't sound all that normal to me. LOL.

It makes me wonder even more what Byakuran's relationship with Ghost really is. Like, if it was antagonistic at some point, that might help explain why the Vindice didn't bat a bandage-covered eye at Iris coming to pick up Mukuro (who Byakuran might have possibly wanted to interrogate, or coerce to his side, or something) instead of him. But if the two were pals, then yeah, the Vindice really fucked up. Way to let one of your top-security prisoners walk out right under your noses, guys. XD
